The Man Who Built Cambodia

An architect whose iconic buildings defined a newly independent Cambodia struggles to come to terms with the reckless development that threatens his legacy.

My name is Haig.

I’m a documentary filmmaker drawn to stories that live in the grey zones—where identity, power, and history collide. I started in journalism, then found myself in Sri Lanka during the civil war, working on a fellowship. I picked up a used Panasonic DV camera and started filming. Since then, I’ve lived and worked across Asia, producing films rooted in lived experience.

In Cambodia, I co-wrote and produced The Man Who Built Cambodia, a short about an architect whose legacy shaped a nation. In China, I co-hosted the China Sports Insider Podcast in the lead-up to the Beijing Winter Olympics.

My latest project, The Moonwalkers, follows a Swedish coach attempting to bring a newly formed team from the Solomon Islands to the 2026 Floorball World Championships. The sport is obscure, the odds are long, and the dream is real. What drew me in wasn’t the game—it was the ambition, the grit, and the sense of possibility in a place the world rarely notices.

I founded Ripley Point Pictures to produce character-driven films that travel—emotionally and geographically. I shoot vérité because I believe the truth shows up in the unscripted.
